Qual a cor da Biblio? Estudo racial do quadro de discentes do curso de Biblioteconomia do Centro-Oeste brasileiro

Resumo

The research aims to investigate the racial profile of newcomers in the librarianship courses of Federal Public Higher Education Institutions (IFES) located in the Midwest region of Brazil. In addition, having as a parameter the enactment of the Higher Education Quota Law no.12711/2012 (an affirmative action policy), it is proposed to comparatively identify the number of blacks, browns and whites and discuss the inclusion of the black population in the analyzed institutions; verify the amount of abandonment between the groups; present the amount of blacks and browns according to gender, age and origin of admission, whether public or private school. It deals with quantitative and exploratory research. The analysis is based on the 2017 Higher Education Census Microdata of the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research. It was considered the Students entering the midwestern librarianship courses in 2015-2017. The year 2015 was established as a point of reference, as it was from there that a significant number of IFES joined ENEM and SISU. The main results pointed out that the students of library science in the Midwest region of Brazil are mostly composed of the black population, composed of yong from public schools.
