Dados Biológicos comparativos Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith, 1797) (lepidoptera, noctuidae) em algodoeiro e milho

Abstract

This research deals with the compared biology of Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith, 1797) on a natural diet consisting of leaves of the cotton plant (cultivar IAC-17 and leaves of a hybrid corn plant('HMD-7974'). The experimerrt was carried out under the fol lowing condi tions: temperatur􀀎. 25 ! 29C, moisture, 60 ! 10\ R.H., light, a 14-hour photope­riod. The following biological parameters were observed egg stage: incubation period and viability; larval stage duration, number of instars, weight and viability; pupal sta ge: duration, weight and viability; adult stage: preoviposition period, fccundity and longevity. Generally spcaking within these pararnetcrs, the results differed statistically, showing that thc insects prefer the leaves of the corn plant.
