O encarceramento da existência da pessoa surda na/pela linguagem

Abstract

This discussion, motivated by a preliminary look at the sociolinguistic reality of deaf people deprived of freedom, has a sociolinguistic character because it is based on the deaf person and theirlanguage, and addresses how oral language determines the deaf person an imprisoned existence through the clinical-pathological and cultural conceptions of being "deaf people". And, still, the data fromthe Levantamento Nacional de Informações Penitenciárias –Infopenindicate that there may be a significant underreporting of deaf people in the Brazilian prison system and have opened up the linguistic negligence by the State in relation to people deaf.
