Resumo

The aim of this article is to discourse about small and depressed towns in Goiás State, using as object of study the planning region of South-west part. The general argument is that the intervention of the state in generating mechanisms of regionalization and construction of public policy mask the reality when they describe, for example, the South-west part as the richest region of Goiás, without discussing the deep differences between the cities which make part of it. Thus, they say that “the hypocrite people steal the scene”. Those hypocrite people are represented by local, regional, state, national and international actors who enjoy the spoil of the region, disseminate the wealth and prosperity of the South-west part and cover up the capital drainage of the small cities by using the productive and expensive soil. This fact leave public administration with the difficulty of managing the town. So, we propose that the regionalization thinking stop to concentrate in regions. It should be considered from de the cities which centralize the services or, as Chaveiro (2010) said, those cities that polarize the small towns around them, as they build up together halos stained dots through the provision of services.
