Resumo
The overarching objective of this research is to investigate the interrelationships that highlight parities and differences between a selection of works by artist José Leonilson and images from the film “Paris, Texas” (1984), by Wim Wenders. Considering the tropes of displacement and the element of the desert, the tension of poetic and aesthetic parallels between the artists aims to elaborate dialogues arising from the narrowing of images produced through different languages. By assuming the difficulty of achieving explanations that take into account the dimension of speech, the investigation proposes to think about the conflict between what is said and what is left unsaid, based on the provocations of the essay “The aesthetics of silence” (Sontag, 1963), in a reflection that locates the developments of these aspects present in art (language, introspection and silence) to a social degree.
