Resumo
In 1950, João Cabral de Melo Neto and the Portuguese poet Alberto Serpa,
published the poetry magazine O cavalo de todas as cores, which had only a single edition.
The interest in this magazine seemed to reside, above all, in being an editorial enterprise
involving one of the greatest Brazilian poets of all time. However, the correspondence
exchanged between the two editors, treating centrally of the organization of the magazine,
can maybe re-dimension the importance of this publication, above all in Cabral’s body of
work. We propose to follow, from that correspondence, the process of organization of O cavalo de todas as cores, contemplating the editors’ choices and what they reveal about
the way each of them dealt with their political contemporaneity.
