Resumo
This research proposed analyzing the activity of university libraries in the context of distance education. This study is justified taking into view, the need for current debates that point solution for the drafting and implementation of activities required in university libraries before the expansion of distance education, assuming the form of how they can serve as a basis for promoting the activities of higher education at a distance. The methodology used in the development of the work was carried out through questionnaires of imprint qualitative and systematic observation of sites of university libraries. The object of study, was chosen out of the world ranking published annually on the best universities in the world and worked with sampling of 15 university libraries of Brazilian universities highlighted in the world ranking. After the collection of the data sought to analyze them for response that can respond to the question: what kind of attention to university libraries have exempted students EAD. Through this work it was found that the libraries are not prepared to meet the user EAD as it should, with a view that they do not understand that the services provided to the public need to be differentiated.
