Resumo

The objective was to investigate the socio-cultural implications that were related to the practice or the absence of the musical genres lundu song and choro in the musical scene of Vila Boa (present-day city of Goiás), which, at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, cultivated saraus and serenades. The methodological trajectory that led to the historiography of Goiás and to some peculiarities of the genres and society in question allowed verify that they were very little practiced by a Goiana elite that did not see with good eyes the musical activities linked more directly to the culture of the slaves and to certain modality of bohemia.
