Resumo
This article stems from a critical reflection on Aesthetics through feminist and
decolonial perspectives, highlighting Paula Fleisner’s concept of cosmoaesthetics and Monique
Roelofs’ theoretical contributions. Roelofs proposes a revision of modern Aesthetics that takes
into account relational, racial, and gendered dimensions, while Fleisner develops
cosmoaesthetics as an articulation of relational materialities with artistic practices and diverse
cosmologies. I aim to enter this debate by developing the idea of a “sound image” inspired by
experiences with images, sounds, and Indigenous cosmologies. In these contexts, sound is not
secondary to image but forms with it a perceptual threshold of indissociability. In the article, I
problematize the term “audiovisual” and revisit the transformation of sensibility through
technology, emphasizing that although the technical reproduction of sound has altered our ways
of listening, the concept of the “sound image” proposed here goes beyond technological media.
This proposal engages with authors such as Tim Ingold, by articulating hearing, vision, and
movement in the perception of the world. Thus, the text advocates for a sensitive and
philosophical mode of listening that brings together aesthetics, anthropology, and alternative
modes of existence, specially those rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems and feminist
epistemologies.
