Resumo

This work aims to analyze the novels Anoite da espera(2017) and Pontos de fuga(2019), both by Milton Hatoum, observing the use of diary writing and the resource of memory to narrate events that occurred during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship that started in 1964. In the analysis, the family ruptures caused by the political-ideological polarization accentuated by the authoritarian regime were remarked. This is a bibliographical study based on the works of Candau (2016), Figueiredo (2017), Hess (2006), Lejeune (2014), among others. With the analysis of the novels, it is evident that the use of the diary allows the narrator-protagonist to re-elaborate his records and re-evaluate the memories of the events that occurred in Brazil during the dictatorial period. In these records, we observe the recrudescence of the repression of the State and the interpersonal ruptures, mainly familiar ones, caused by irreconcilable political-ideological positions assumed by the individuals. We thus see the effects of the dictatorial regime on the lives ofthe characters and how the narrative strategies used in the novels contribute to present them.
