Resumo
In this work we analyzed the engagement in the poetry by Vinicius de
Moraes. The class guilt, the function of the intellectual/artist in an unfair society, the
desire of solidarity with the poors, the reflection about the historical dilemmas, especially
the disasters connected with World War II, are fundamental for understanding
his artistic and intellectual trajectory and often seem eclipsed by the famous image of
the bohemian writer. In this study, we developed a reading of two poems by the author:
“Mensagem a Rubem Braga” and “O operário em construção”.
