Resumo
This paper presents relevant concepts in the area of Electrical Engineering, reporting on the use of
solar power plants as a complementary energy source to the Brazilian energy matrix. The constantdrop in the price of photovoltaic materials together with the great availability of solar resources in
Brazil makes the solar source interesting alternative. Therefore, this study presents the necessary
requirements for the design and project of photovoltaic systems that comply current standards. In
addition, an economic viability study and its relevant financial indicators are also discussed. Using
the necessary concepts, it is presented the development of the solar energy project to attend to a
particular specific and its own study of economic feasibility, showing how investment in the solar
economy is feasible.
