Resumo

The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the addition effects of different contents of urea and water added in Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu hay, harvested after seeds fall. The hay was harvested in June, 1997, and ammoniated in September, 1997.A completely randomized blocks design was used, with three replications, in 3x3 factorial scheme. The factors were 20, 30 and 40% of water added and 2, 4 and 6% of urea in the dry matter base. There was no difference among the treatments for the average contents of organic matter. The average content of total nitrogen increased with the crescent urea and decreased when therewas an increase of water added in the hay. There were not significant differences between the average of NDF and hemicelulose in all the treatments. The 4 and 6% of urea added with 40% of water reduced the ADF content. For this research condition, it can be recommended 4% of urea and 20% of the addition water.
