O estilo urban jungle em ambiente universitário: FAV/UFG

Abstract

Educational environments can directly influence the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of users who spend time in these spaces, with the presence of vegetation or elements that evoke nature being able to reduce stress, promote mental restoration, and contribute to the improvement of individuals' emotional states. In this context, the present work aimed to develop a landscape project based on the Urban Jungle style, applied to the university environment of the School of Visual Arts at the Federal University of Goiás. The literature review comprehensively addressed concepts related to educational environments and the role of vegetation in these spaces, highlighting biophilia as the innate human connection to nature, and also discussing the benefits of green areas, including microclimate modification, a potential reduction in energy consumption for climate control, and the contribution to urban quality of life. The methodology adopted was adapted to the purpose of the work, the needs of the users, and the limitations of the space, involving the planimetric and cadastral survey of the intervention area, shadow mapping, and the definition of a representative persona for the user profile, elements that supported the development of the executive project. The results included the design of architectural and botanical projects, a descriptive report, and a budget, in addition to the selection of natural and artificial plant species compatible with the lighting, use, and maintenance conditions of the analyzed environments. It is concluded that the Urban Jungle style constitutes an effective alternative to transforming university environments into more welcoming, sustainable spaces that encourage social interaction and integration. The landscape project developed achieves the established objectives, reaffirming the importance of qualified planning of educational spaces and the careful use of vegetation as a strategy to promote well-being.
