Efeito da compactação do solo no desenvolvimento aéreo e radicular do pinhão manso (Jatropha curcas L.) e crambe (Crambe abyssinica Hochst)

Resumo

The Jatropha curcas and crambe are species with potential for using as raw material in biodiesel production. The compaction or increased density of the soil may limit the growth and development of shoot and roots. The objective of this study was to evaluate shoot and root development of two oilseed species Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) and crambe (Crambe abyssinica) subjected to five levels of compression. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse in Oxisol of medium texture. The columns of PVC overlaid with three divisions (lower and upper compressed), where only the central part of the soil was compacted. Levels of compression of the cylinders followed the following densities of 1.14, 1.25, 1.37, 1.47 and 1.58 Mg m -3 . At 50 days after plant emergence, were determined: the height, shoot dry bulk, stem diameter and root dry bulk in the three individual parts of the cylinder. The increase in soil bulk density did not affect negatively the growth and development of root and shoot of Jatropha curcas. However, crambe was sensitive to soil compaction in relation to the diameter of the shoot and root dry bulk in the compacted layer and bottom of the cylinder.
