Centro-Dia para idosos com Alzheimer

Abstract

The aging population has brought significant challenges, especially in the healthcare field, with the rise of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease, which affects millions of people, including over 1 million Brazilians. Despite this, the availability of specialized care is still insufficient. Alzheimer's Disease is a degenerative and progressive condition with no cure, requiring continuous care and impacting the quality of life of the elderly. In response to this need, the development of a Day Center for elderly people with Alzheimer’s has been proposed. This specialized facility aims to promote the well-being and autonomy of patients, offering activities that stimulate physical and mental health. The project seeks to integrate principles of accessibility and safety, with herapeutic spaces that encourage contact with nature. To support the proposal, case studies and research were conducted on current legislation and the needs of the elderly, considering architectural, social, and health aspects.
