Resumo
Informative books are works that address facts and data from reality, engaging in dialogue on different themes, including those intertwined with the field of Natural Sciences/Biological Sciences. In this article, we propose to analyze narratively and interpretively the work "Caterpillars: what will i be when i get to be me?", by the American writer Kevin McCloskey, which we consider an informative book aimed at children. To this end, we conducted a systematic reading of the work, focusing particularly on how the caterpillar/butterfly/moth is presented, as well as its life cycle. Thus, we carried out an initial exploratory reading to familiarize ourselves with the content of the work. Following this, we conducted a critical-analytical reading, using the content analysis proposed by Bardin (2011). We assessed the quality of the work'swriting/production and its potential to inform about the world of Natural Sciences/Biological Sciences. Therefore, we hope that new works by the author will be translated for the reading of curious children and adults throughout Brazil!
