Resumo

The theme is the training of teachers for the education of the deaf in the initial grades of basic education and early childhood education. Specifically, it focuses on the Bilingual Pedagogy: Libras / Portuguese course offered by the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the State of Goiás (IFG) in Aparecida de Goiânia. The Aims is to present the characteristics of the course, analyze its importance in the State and record the potential and difficulties in its development. Methodology has a qualitative exploratory approach, with interviews with two managers and analysis of documents. It is concluded that the conception of the course assumes that the egress must know how to teach a child with specific methods and techniques. Still, the course results from the desire of the IFG educational community, but they face challenges in its implementation, such as the need for translators and interpreters, specifics of the deaf within the institution and lack of clarity on the part of the students regarding their purpose.
