Resumo

The present work presents the experience of a didactic intervention in a school in the city of Caturaí/GO, this city belongs in the Metropolitan Area of Goiânia/GO. The text explores the effectuation of the project entitled “Population movements and citizen practice in Caturaí” in a class of the seventh grade of Fundamental Education II. The didactic intervention was developed in the first half of 2014 by a team of four teachers of Institute of Socioenvironmental Studies, ten undergraduate students in Geography and three students of the Postgraduate Program in Geography, all of the Federal University of Goiás – UFG. The implementation of the project resulted in activities with students more directly linked to the planning and city management. Therefore, the purpose was to analyze the effectiveness of Geography in citizen acting with reference to the practices of students in daily spaces (Cavalcanti, 2001; Lefebvre, 1991). For this, it does a theoretical discussion about the city, citizenship and civic practice, using theoretical and methodological guidelines of reference authors in the area. Then presents five elements of methodological development of didactic intervention project based on collaborative research. Finally, it shows results of didactic experience with the geographic content discussed about the population that potentiated students to act as subjects in city management. However, through the Geography teaching, considers that didactic intervention is one of the possibilities of providing the citizen student the formation of a democratic citizenship, critical and participatory from the study and the experience in the city. Or rather, the Geography classes can enable a better understanding to students about urban life, citizenship and civic practice.
