Resumo
Several methods, eg colorimetric and chromatographic methods have
been used for the identification and quantification of methyldopa in pharmaceutical
formulations, as well as in samples of clinical interest, which typically have high
analysis time and reagent consumption. Thus, much effort has been directed towards
the development of analytical procedures simple, fast, accurate and low cost. In this
context, we intend to evaluate the electrochemical behavior of methyldopa with
analytical purposes and chemical-pharmaceutical products, since redox mechanisms
are probably involved in the process of decarboxylation and action of methyldopa in
nervous tissue. The redox behavior of methyldopa was evaluated by cyclic
voltammetry, varying different parameters (Scanning Range of Potential or Reversal
Potential and Scan Rate), as well as characteristics of the supporting electrolyte (pH,
Salt) and working electrode (Carbon Paste, Glassy Carbon and Pt).
