Frequência e caracterização de leveduras na mucosa bucal de usuários de próteses dentárias

Resumo

Dental prosthesis have been related to an increase of yeasts of the genus Cândida in oral mucosa. The features acquired by each Cândida albicans strain turn into an epidemyologic marker. We collected samples from 57 total dental prosthesis' users and from 30 natural teeth individuais, which werc cultured in agar sabouraud dextrose media. Identification of yeasts was donc by germ tube and chlamydospores production, besides assimilation carbon and nitrogen biochemical tests. We isolated yeasts in 75,4% (43/57) of the total dental prosthesis useis and in 26,7% (8/30) of teethed people. The most prevalent yeast was Cândida albicans in both groups. 5330 morphotype was observed in 40,5% (17/43) of samples from prosthesis users, being the most prevalent morphotype, and morphotype 0000 was found in 37,5% (3/8) of people with teeth, showing different morphological features between groups.
