Resumo
The present Course Completion Work (TCC) was developed from the theme “Caring
and educating: intertwining in early childhood education”. The theme emerged from the
perception of the devaluation of the hybrid pedagogical work experienced in the Non-
Mandatory Internship in a private institution of early childhood education in the city of
Goiânia, Goiás. The research presents an account of the historical trajectory of early childhood
education, passing through its first constitutions to the models currently formed, as well as
presenting the inseparable relationship between caring and educating, permeating the
formation and integral development of the young child. For the methodology of this study,
exploratory research was used with the technical procedure of literature review. The results
obtained here indicate that Early Childhood Education has faced several transformations in its
role over the centuries, in some periods prioritizing the assistentialist function and in others
the educational function until it finds itself in the current constitution in which the
integralization of education and care must be guaranteed, in public and private educational
institutions, as they are inherent elements, without hierarchy and prominence that can ensure
a complete pedagogical proposal committed to the integral formation of children in early
childhood education.
