Resumo
This article attempts to examine the exis- ting horizon of expectations in the project of building the new capital of the state of Goias, Goiania. Through the concepts of narrative structure and aesthetics lineage want to reconstruct the concept of monu- mentality that was developed by designers responsible for drafting the plan of the new capital and the form how the appropriations of international urban ideals and social and historical elements functioned as the cement necessary to the formation of the collective political imaginary about that urban space.
