Resumo

In 1919, Antenor Nascentes published, in Rio de Janeiro, the dissertation that he had submitted to the competition for filling the chair of Spanish at Colégio Pedro II. In this work, entitled A test Differencial Phonetica Luso-Spanish – About the Greek elements that are in Spanish, there is not its justification and it’s not specified its pedagogical purpose. It is inferred that the intention of this prose was the demonstration of the author’s erudition and capacity for grammatical reflection. Thus, the qualification as “test” of the first work signals the willingness of springs for weighting contrastive, with an apparent didactical purpose, between Spanish and Portuguese. That dissertation reflected, however, as a philological perspective, one could apply the classical grammars to understanding the formation of distinctive sounds between Spanish and Portuguese. Having accumulated teaching practice in teaching Spanish, Nascentes composed two works, the Gramática da língua espanhola para uso dos brasileiros (1920), purposefully directed for use in the classroom, and Antologia espanhola e hispano-americana (1943). In this paper are weighed up the categories that marked the pedagogical route of Nascentes as a professor of Spanish language and analyzes the method of teaching inherent in their publications.
