Os temas e os conceitos da geodiversidade

Abstract

Geodiversity represents the diversity of geological environments, phenomena and active processes that give rise to landscapes, rocks, minerals, fossils, soils and other surface deposits that support life on Earth. The present work aims to present and discuss topics relative to geodiversity, such as: geological heritage, geoconservation, geopark and geotourism. Finally, a brief overview of the state of the art related to geodiversity of the state of Goiás. For the accomplishment of this work a bibliographic review of national and international publications related to the subjects on geodiversity was made. The term geodiversity has been diffused in several countries concomitantly with discussions related to the protection, conservation and preservation of nature. Studies on geodiversity and geological heritage in the state of Goiás are still incipient. However, the characterization, valorization and dissemination of this heritage are fundamental for understanding the evolutionary history of the state as well as assisting in the promotion of public policies in favor of its geoconservation.
