Incremento de espécies arbóreas em plantio de recuperação de área degradada em solo de cerrado no Distrito Federal

Resumo

This research investigated the relationship between the growth of Cerrado native tree species and the initial height and diameter of seedlings subjected of irrigation and application of polymer in the planting hole. The experiment was established in an degraded area by sand mining in the Federal District of Brazil. Experimental design consisted of four blocks of four 20 x 50 m plots, with 10 individuals of each 11 selected Cerrado species, totaling 110 seedlings in each plot. Results showed variation within and among species in growth in height and diameter, but no association with the irrigation treatments and application of polymer. The average relative height and diameter growth was higher for species with lower initial sizes and correspondently decreased in greater seedlings. Thus, it appears that the initial size was not a limiting factor for plant development in the field.
