Avaliação das complicações e da performance reprodutiva subsequente à operação cesariana realizada a campo em bovinos

Resumo

The objective of this work was to evaluate the main current complications of the Cesarean section and some reproductive parameters in bovine females. After the general clinical examination and specific exam of the maternal passages, 50 animals were submitted to Cesarean in right lateral decubitus. Local anesthetic was used and cloridrate of xylazin was used after taking out the fetus. The incision was accomplished among the udder, the knee’s pleat and the abdominal superficial vein; the suture was made with categut and thread of cotton 000. The postoperative consisted of antibiotic therapy and local healing. Dystocias were currently: anomalous position of the fetus, twin delivery, absolute and relatively big fetuses, fetal monsters and partial uterine torsion. Related to the fetuses, 24 were born alive and 26 were dead, which 14 were emphysematous fetus; two cows died and nine were culled out. It can be concluded that the main operative complications observed in this research were retention of fetal membranes (44%), clinical metritis (48%), associated retention and metritis (26%), wound dehiscence (6%) and edema (6%). Cesarean section caused an increase of the service period and the medium number of services for conception of the operated females.
