Moda e linguagem no carnaval: a dinâmica dos exageros e contrastes na estética masculina

Abstract

Carnival in Brazil is a cultural event deeply rooted in national identity, filled with aesthetic expressions that transcend generations and borders. Within this context, the study of this event, more especially in the Bloco Zé Pereira, in Jaraguá, Goiás, is the ideal scenario to comprehend the complex relationship between fashion, language and national identity, particularly regarding gender expression. This is because the bloco encourages men to dress as women while parading through the streets of the city. The goal of this research is to understand the impact of this event on the popular imagination, especially among these men, what allowed liberation from certain prejudices, such as expressing femininity. The analysis is based on exploratory research conducted through a literature review of various authors perspectives on fashion, language, gender and national identity.
