Resumo
Artistic gymnastics is a sport characterized by the execution of skills on various apparatuses, demanding that gymnasts perform complex movements, such as flights, inverted positions, and rotations. With the increasing difficulty level of these skills, there has been a greater demand on the gymnasts' efforts. This effort, in turn, raises the risk of injuries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the profile, prevalence, and aspects related to the occurrence of injuries in female artistic gymnastics. It investigates attendance, training time, and the initiation into the practice of artistic gymnastics, and aims to identify the types, mechanisms, and anatomical location of the most frequent injuries among gymnasts, as well as to identify the main gymnastics apparatuses most associated with injuries. The sample consisted of 15 female artistic gymnastics athletes, aged 9 to 17, from a training center in Goiânia. Data collection was carried out through individual interviews and the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical techniques. The study revealed that the frequency of injuries in female artistic gymnasts is high, with the lower extremities being the most affected. The main causes of injuries were identified as improper landing in acrobatics and gymnastic elements. Additionally, it was observed that a lack of strength training and moderate consistency in physical preparation training could be related to the occurrence of injuries.
