Resumo
In this present work entitled “How food interferes in human relationships learning to respect food
diversity with a focus on vegetarianism”, we seek to understand how the relationship between
vegetarian and non-vegetarian people occurs in society, for this purpose, materials that help to
better understand this issue. Among the materials used are works such as: The Anarchy and the
Animals” (2010), by Reclus; Animal Liberation (2013), by Singer; in addition to these two books,
some articles were also used, they are: Conflicts at the table (2026) by Abonizio; For a vegan
teaching of biological sciences (2018) de Campos; The formation of the individual in social
relations: contributions from Lev vigotski and Pierre Janet(2000) de Góes. For a better
understanding of what actually happens in the relationship between people who have a different
food option than what is common in society, a questionnaire was carried out with people who do
not use meat in their diet to better understand what it is like to belong to a group that is a minority
in relation to people who eat meat, in this questionnaire seven people were invited, however, only
six participants agreed to participate. Although at times some questions are addressed about the
relationship with vegans, the main objective of the work is to address vegetarians, since vegans
and vegetarians, although most of the time they do not consume meat, it must be considered that
both belong to the categories different and have their specificities, that is, veganism and
vegetarianism are two different things from each other and this needs to be clear so that there is no
confusion in understanding the difference between each one. In addition to all these issues related
to the relationship between individuals, it is possible to understand, from the materials used, what
is behind the decision to become a vegetarian, several factors are involved that influence people to
stop consuming meat, factors that such as environmental issues, morals, love of animal life, health,
etc. And in this way, the decision of each one is better understood and it is understood that dietary
diversities exist and need to be respected. From the questionnaire carried out, it was possible to
obtain a very positive result in relation to the collection of information that was enriching for the
discussion of the approached theme.
