Resumo
This paper documents the presence of communication research on women journalists, from
2001 to 2016, in postgraduate programs in Brazil. The dissertations and theses were
collected through systematized search in the thesis and dissertations bank of Capes. It is,
therefore, a research that involves the theme of the feminization of journalism and,
indirectly, issues related to gender, visibility and prejudice. In this way, the inventory
highlights the profile of this production, in view of authorship, type of work, thematic,
institutions, among other aspects. The research was carried out in two stages, in the first
there was categorization and quantification of the data, through content analysis, in the second, a qualitative analysis of the abstracts of theses and dissertations. We conclude that
the scientific production on women also reflects an absence or even an omission of
postgraduate studies in communication about women journalists and gender issues that
perpass the professional activity in the sample studied. This may represent nothing but a
connivance, at least a denial or complacency with the continuity of an invisibility which, in
the opposite direction of considerable social and cultural change, still infiltrates social
relations.
