Abordagem linguístico-ecossistêmica da linguagem rural: uma primeira aproximação

Abstract

The objective of this article is to present some preliminary results of a research conducted in the small community of Major Porto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The theoretical basis is ecolinguistics, above all its branch called ecosystemic linguistics. Some of the main concepts and categories of this theory are presented. The article also presents some results found in the area of syntax, phonology and leixo-semantics. The data were collected with two famale informants. It is shown that the local dialect is a reality per se, not derived from “standard” Portuguese, as is the case with traditional treatments saying that it “does not have verb-subject agreement” and so on. This is done by focussing in the dialect itself, not as a derivative of urban Portuguese.
