Resumo
This monograph study examines the exhibition design of the São Paulo Immigration Museum, discussing how its historical narratives were constructed and the memory and representation disputes that emerge from this process. The research acknowledges that, historically, the museum has privileged an approach centered on the economic development of São Paulo and on immigration as a labor force, thereby reducing the plurality of migrant identities and experiences. Through a literature review, document analysis, and critical observation of the permanent and temporary exhibitions, the study reveals tensions between official memory, cultural policies, and contemporary demands for greater representation. Finally, it proposes guidelines for a more inclusive exhibition design that values the experiences, memories, protagonism, and cultural contributions of diverse immigrant groups, fostering a plural, critical, and anticolonial perspective on migratory processes.
