Resumo

This study aimed to carry out a narrative review of the recommendations for the practice of physical activity in relation to Covid-19. The methodology was qualitative, of the narrative review type, using the Scielo and Google Academic databases as research sources. The search for articles was carried out using the words: “physical exercise”, “body composition” and “physical inactivity”, all combined with the term “COVID-19”. A total of twenty-six articles considered for the theme were included. From the reading and analysis of the articles, it can be seen that there was a marked reduction in the practice of physical activity during the implementation of social distancing measures by governments, resulting in an increase in sedentary lifestyle and obesity during the period of the Covid pandemic19. Studies that showed improvement in the immune, cardiorespiratory and mental status of practitioners of physical activity, helping to treat symptoms of Covid-19. However, many authors agree that there is a need for further elaboration in studies and research in this area, due to the low number of variables used. We also point out that the absence of studies with an authentic experimental design can demonstrate the fragility of the scientific field in this area.
