Resumo

The education of deaf people has been a theme explored in the formative spaces, after the recognition of Libras as an officially Brazilian sign language. However, many deaf people, for various reasons, go to high school without the satisfactory knowledge of their natural language. Thus, this participant research had as objective to elaborate a proposal of a language history questionnaire, with a view to help teachers diagnose the bilingual profile of deaf people, so that they can better understand the communicative needs of these students and, later, contribute to quality and inclusive education. In the article, we present some definitions about bilingualism, as well as problematizing the concept of the deaf as a bilingual individual. Next, we present our research path, which includes the discussion of the use of language history questionnaire, as a data collection tool for the diagnosis of the bilingual profile of the deaf. Our participants comprised a total of six deaf students from the city of Anapolis, stateof Goias, and the data were collected during the year 2016. In summary, from the application of the questionnaire, our data allow us to conclude that education of deaf people is a complex process and therefore it is necessary to include studies on the bilingual profile of these individuals in the studies that pervade the teaching and learning process of the deaf.
