Casa Caminhar: centro de apoio para interioranos com demanda hospitalar em Goiânia

Abstract

The right to health in Brazil, guaranteed by the 1988 Constitution and regulated by the Or￾ganic Health Law (Law No. 8.080/1990), ensures universal and equal access through the Unified Health System (SUS). However, the centralization of medium and high complexity hospital infras￾tructure in large centers highlights regional inequalities in Brazil. Goiânia, in the state of Goiás, is no exception, as a considerable number of patients from the interior travel there seeking treat￾ment. This reality generates the need for structured support centers capable of offering lodging, shelter, and psychosocial support to patients and their families. In this context, this work aims to propose an architectural project for a support center located in the East University Sector, near the capital’s public reference hospitals. This research is based on a literature review on the subject, analysis of legislation from the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS), among others, case studies of similar facilities, interviews, and a sur￾vey of the neighborhood where the facility will be implemented, in order to support design gui￾delines that integrate care, well-being, and humanization, contributing to a stay that provides a counterpoint to hospital environments, for the restoration and well-being of patients/guests. This work is expected to contribute to the field, highlighting the importance of environmental and architectural qualities, especially for people in recovery and health maintenance processes.
