Resumo
This experiment studied the stocking density on the
level where the initial weight of nile tilapia (oreochromis
niloticus) fingerling is 1 g and final weight is 30 g in
raceways. the experiment was did from november to
december 2003 (35 days), in fish production sector of Federal
University of Goiás. the experiments units used were twelve
90 L tanks, full water exchange in 60 minutes in the beggining
and 45 minutes at the end of the experiment and the
starterweight was 8.04 ± 1.81g. the stocking densities were
700 fingerlings/m3, 1,000 fingerlings/m3 and 1,300 fingerlings/
m3. the following parameters were analyzed: mortality; final
weight; final length; final biomass; food conversion rate;
weight gain; daily weight gain; protein efficiency rate;
specific growth rate and condition factor. tukey test and
variance analysis, with 95% of confidence, to compare the
treatments. The treatments with 1,000 and 1,300 fingerlings/m3 showed bigger final biomass (p<0,05) than 700
fingerllings/m3. The others parameters weren’t different
between the treatments (p>0,05) and the dissolved oxigen
was critical at the end. Due to the high mortality, as the
stocking density was reduced, the parameters were similar
between the treatments.
