Resumo
It is known that contemporary lyrical production has been represented in a diverse and dispersed way, showing that “more is more”, that is to say, the more it is open to all kinds of asthetic padding the better. Therefore, taking such fact into consideration, this work aims at observing how the word "excess" is used in Portuguese and Brazilian poetry, written by the authors Adilia Lopes and Marilia Garcia, respectively. The analysis attempts to observe the crisis that has reuined these texts in what comes to their tensions. These poems, therefore, shows that an extremist notion might grant to contemporary poetry the idea of anachronism or, in the worst case, insufficiency, although such notion might be used in a critical way to guide the writing of the verses.
