Phage display e sua aplicação em medicina veterinaria

Resumo

The phage display technology was first described in 1985. Since that time, different recombinant molecules, such as small peptides or antibody fragments are displayed on the surface of filamentous phage proteins, expanding greatly the applications of this technique. Different prospection methods allow the isolation and characterization, whether in vitro and in vivo, of peptides that are reactive to a wide range of biological targets. This paper aims to review the principles of the phage display technique and its potential as an important tool for the characterization of biomolecules and their applications in the diagnosis and therapy of veterinary diseases.
