Tópicos sobre vida e obra da poetisa Leodegária de Jesus

Abstract

Leodegária de Jesus is a poet from Goiás from the beginning of the 20th century. She published two books, Corôa de lyrios (1906) and Orchideas (1928). In this essay, we propose a reading of poems selected from thematic topics that may contribute to the understanding of her literary work. The city of her literary birth, the figure of the father as an influence on her life and an unrealized love are topics that serve the purpose of the text, first, to present the poet’s literary work to the public and, later, to comment and analyze poems representative of her literary insertion in the historical context in which she lived. Implying life and literary work, the essay uses the History of Literature, Literary Criticism and biographical data to support the discussion.
