Administrative professionals’ quality of life in educational institutions: a systematic review

| dc.description.abstract | Objective Quality of life (QoL) is influenced by several factors and impacts the health and performance of workers. This systematic review aimed to synthesize the available evidence on the QoL of administrative professionals in educational institutions. Methods A systematic search was conducted in Web of Science, Scopus, MEDLINE/ PubMed, CINAHL, and LILACS, with no language or date restrictions. Eligible studies were peer-reviewed articles using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods (crosssectional, cohort, case-control, or clinical trials) involving administrative professionals from secondary or higher education institutions. Study selection followed PRISMA 2020 and a registered protocol. Two independent reviewers screened and extracted data, with a third resolving disagreements. Methodological quality was assessed using the GRADE and Downs and Black checklist. Results Of 6,929 records, three studies met the criteria, including 600 administrative professionals from Australia, Portugal, and Italy. All were cross-sectional and used validated QoL instruments (SF-36, EUROHIS-QOL 8-Index, VR-12). QoL was significantly associated with presenteeism, sleep quality, family dynamics, and social support. Despite heterogeneity, all studies were rated high quality with low risk of bias. A metaanalysis was not feasible; a narrative synthesis was performed. Conclusions The findings of this systematic review can significantly contribute to promoting a healthy work environment for administrative professionals—especially in the education sector—regardless of whether they work onsite or remotely. | |
