Resumo
The Pires Belo District located on the banks of BR-050, municipality of Catalao/GO has become a place Marked by the expansion of capital and the modernization of economic activities. Buildings and actions such as modernization of agriculture, Serra do Facao hydroelectric power plant, duplication of BR-050, installation of transformation companies, migratory processes integrate the District into the national and international economic scenario, changing the way of living of the place. New spatial dynamics are configured in the areas directly related to the District, in a mix of activities, some still based on traditional family work mixed with wage labor, informality and precariousnees. In the field, the crops have new objectives, aimed at expanding wealth, tomato cultivation and soybean advance. There is the introduction of sophisticated machinery and expansion of cultivated areas with migrant and local workers. In the urban area the expansion of commercial and industrial networks, the increase in job offer and the problems arising from economic growth (prostitution trafficking and use of licit and illicit drugs), absence of social policies. Recently, the doubling of BR-050, which links Brasilia to Sao Paulo, has brought new job opportunities, even if in the short term improving the per capita income of the inhabitants. The article was produced from bibliographical research, observation, interviews, experiences in the locality, allowing the understanding that the peaceful place has become an incessant and noisy place crossed by the world.
