Resumo
The advanced oxidative processes have gotten great attention due the
increase of the complexity and difficulty in the wastewater treatment, what it has
been reason for the search of new methodologies aiming at the remediation of
these effluents. Ahead of this, in this work, it was studied the process based in
advanced oxidation, such as: heterogeneous photocatalysis TiO2/UV;
photochemical treatment H2O2/UV and processes based on Fenton’s reagent. . The
three processes present the generation of radicals hidroxila that it is a powerful and
not selective oxidante (2,8 E0= eV). This review describes the processes fundaments
main and discusses degradation mechanisms of organic contaminants. The main
limitations of the presented techniques are: construction of reactors in real scale,
the costs with energy and the development of catalysers of low cost. The main
advantages are: the process application simplicity and the efficiency in the
recalcitrant highly composite degradation.
