A problematização de gênero em Os homens que eu tive (1973): filme de Tereza Trautman

Abstract

This paper begins with the idea that cultural objects, specifically, films made in Brazil way back in 1970’s, dialogued with values, conceptions, ideas, projects and practices that constitute the ongoing political cultures in the country. Among them, it is possible to identify the feminist political culture, which is engendered in that period, and the authoritarian culture fostered by the civil-military dictatorship. Such political cultures advocated completely different ideas about the social roles assigned to men and women in society. Within this context, Tereza Trautman produced her fiction feature film “Os homens que eu tive”. It was cast in 1973 when the military regime censored it. This article analyzes the representations of gender and the dialogue with feminist ideas from the 1970’s, addressed in the plot.
