| dc.description.abstract | This paper presents and discusses the theoretical assumptions of cartographic language, especially those related to Semiology and Gestalt. It is an exploratory bibliographical research, supported by a line of reasoning that privileged the perspective of language structured in visual signs. Recognizing the importance of Graphic Semiology for the development of a theoretical-methodological systematization of cartographic language, the work identifi es the influences of this formulation, coming from the researches in the fi eld of linguistics, especially the Semiology of Ferdinand Saussure. But he also emphasizes the less known scope of Gestalt psychology, whose studies on visual perception appear in Bertin’s proposal for visual variables. | |
| dc.description.resumo | Este trabalho apresenta e discute os pressupostos teóricos da linguagem cartográfica, em especial aqueles relacionados à Semiologia e à Gestalt. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica exploratória, amparada numa linha de raciocínio que privilegiou a perspectiva da linguagem estruturada em signos visuais. Reconhecendo a importância da Semiologia Gráfica para o desenvolvimento de uma sistematização teórico-metodológica da linguagem cartográfica, o trabalho identifica as influências sofridas por essa formulação, advindas das pesquisas no campo da linguística, especialmente da Semiologia de Ferdinand Saussure. Mas também destaca o alcance, esse já não tão conhecido, da psicologia da Gestalt, cujos estudos sobre percepção visual transparecem na proposta das variáveis visuais de Bertin. | |
