Resumo

This study proposes the development of an edible ephemeral piece of furniture inspired by microscopic botanical structures. The research is based on the observation that edible furniture remains largely unexplored within the field of design, which has traditionally focused on creating durable and reproducible objects. The project translates natural structures observed in plant anatomy into a design artifact, considering that plant anatomy, visible only at the microscopic scale, offers a rich source of aesthetic inspiration by revealing a complex and unique universe—a true plant microcosm. Methodologically, the study is grounded in the principles of Food Design, biomimicry, and material experimentation, using edible ingredients as its primary material. This approach aims to create a sensory experience that encourages reflection on the lifespan of objects and, consequently, on consumption and sustainability. Ultimately, the research seeks to expand the boundaries of design beyond functionality, highlighting its potential to generate meaning and lasting memories even after the designed furniture has been consumed and has ceased to exist physically.
