Avaliação físico-química e microbiológica de diversas soluções desinfetantes utilizadas em pedilúvio para bovinos

Resumo

The purpose of this study was to evaluate physical-chemical and microbiological aspects of eleven disinfectant solutions used in footbath for bovines. The physical-chemical analyses consisted on the determination of the pH and of the concentration of chloridrate polihexametilen biguanide (P.H.M.B.), whitewash, calcium, zinc and formalin. The microbiological analyses accomplished were the total count of mesophilic aerobics microorganism and facultative and mesophilic anaerobics. The physical-chemical characteristics maintained stable. In decreasing order of bacteriostatic effectiveness, the best disinfectant solutions were: P.H.M.B. at 1%, P.H.M.B. at 5%, formalin at 5% associated with P.H.M.B. at 1%, P.H.M.B. at 3%, formalin at 5%, zinc sulphate at 5% associated with P.H.M.B. at 1%, copper sulphate at 5%, whitewash at 5% associated with P.H.M.B. at 1%, zinc sulphate at 5% and whitewash at 5%. Considering the microbiological aspects, cost/ benefits and the animal comfort, the solutions of P.H.M.B. at 1% and copper sulphate at 5% were selected.
