Planejamento bibliotecário em bibliotecas públicas: estudo de caso da biblioteca pública municipal Cora Coralina

Abstract

It proposes a conceptual, historical and critical reflection about the implementation of public libraries in Brazil until this moment, with a case study of the Municipal Public Library Cora Coralina, situated in the city of Goiania - Go. Based on library planning, this academic work, wishes to relate the results from diagnostic model application at the library studied, and to propose alternatives of solution to the possible adversities appeared. It shows the conceptual and historical approach for public library. It is based on guidelines published by the National System of Public Libraries and this is guided by parameters proposed by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. In data analysis, collected during the research, it is faced the accurate data of the reality with data published by institutions that study the theme. It discusses the new concept of library, experimented in other locations and the importance of emancipation from the conception of library that was rooted culturally in the country. In addition, from the analysis of the situational conjuncture of the library, alternatives of solutions are presented for the problems identified in the organizational diagnosis in the following aspects: physical space, furniture, technological resources, human resources, collection and services offered; Considering the perspective of the employees of the institution, its users and normative specifications regarding the type of library.
