Corpo em tormento: a expressividade da angústia nas camadas da pintura

Abstract

This art-based research stems from the experience of anguish as a creative force, taking painting as a field of expression and thought. The investigation unfolds between body, gesture, and matter, where the pictorial process reveals the presence of emptiness, red, and uncertainty as structuring elements. Through materials such as acrylic paint, plaster, and expanding foam, practice becomes a space of experimentation and resistance, in which artistic making reflects states of restlessness and transformation. The tormented body, a recurring theme throughout this research, emerges as a metaphor for existence, a body that, while suffering, creates. Thus, painting is understood as an attempt to give form to the unspeakable and to transform anguish into a sensible presence.
