The demand for fluidity has become fundamental in Brazil’s economic policies agenda and it is has been accompanied by a process of co-option of resources and assets of the State increasingly by corporate groups. In this context, old infrastructures and new projects are guided by interests that undermine alternatives of diversification of what circulates along the rails and reinforce the condition of the country as an exporter of low added-value products. The implementation of Central Spam of North-South Railway (FNS) assumes a strategic role for expanding the integration of important producing regions of commodities for North ports. On that basis, this study analyzes the formation of this railway and ascertains how the corporate appropriation of its tracks imposes restrictions on its use and reduces its function in the territorial context of the Center-North of Goiás. The methodological procedures were based on bibliographic research, documental analysis, a collection of secondary data, field studies and mapping. The results show that the implementation of this network is embedded in a territorial logic immersed in interests that, in essence, place the transportation system even more indifferent to the real demands of circulation, in the most varied scales, for the exclusive benefit of the export guidelines. Without being based on an effective multimodality and far from meeting the real demands of mobility in different municipalities and regions, the expansion of transport infrastructures based on models such as FNS reinforces privileges and contributes to the aggravation of regional inequalities.
